My Manifesto

Never has there been a better moment in our history to rethink the future and how we want to reshape it. What we need is a regenerative and more inclusive economic system that works for everyone and for the long term. The current system does not support our collective vision of shared well-being on a healthy planet.

What are the imperatives for the 21st century and what vital solutions do we need for tomorrow’s world? And how do we move from moment to a “Movement?

This radical interdependence within the economic system, will also help us achieve the 17 SDGs agreed upon by the global community for 2030. A radical, interdependent economy will also need to ensure that ideas and interests compete openly and promote fairness and honesty.

Simply put, the new system will better meet people’s needs by taking care of the planet, encouraging circularity, and ensuring that natural resources are available for future generations.

To achieve this, we need to invest more in economic redistribution and social infrastructure. so that everyone is empowered to reach their full potential. To do this, we must build a new generation of leaders who represent who “we” truly are. Property and capital must become more accessible and inclusive, allowing more influence and power to be exercised by people currently excluded from equal opportunity and markets. Financial inclusion is the most essential component of an inclusive economy that serves all people.

The same is true for technology. Here again, we must be judicious in our use of technology, ensuring that it does not concentrate power but distributes it, and that it does not erode but enhances human rights and freedoms. In the near future, the widespread accessibility of technology will determine the fate of democracy and the economic system that fully develops democratic values for all.

Common criteria and metrics can serve this accountability purpose by supporting the achievement of sustainable and ambitious business goals and principles and transforming them into targeted actions. New social and environmental indicators, as a new compass, can guide business in the right direction, based on the premise that we measure success and impact differently. Welfare and a thriving planet need to be more encouraged and valued, alongside financial returns. The metrics and KPI’s must therefore reflect the totality of financial, social and environmental impact.

Incentives also need to change. Short-termism must be strongly discouraged. Companies and investments that create sustainable social and environmental value in addition to financial value should be additionally rewarded. Similarly, companies and investments that create negative externalities should bear these costs themselves rather than passing them on to the balance sheet of the general budget and citizens.

The fiduciary duty shapes the intent, goals, and responsibilities of each company. In a new format, companies and investors must be accountable for their impact on all stakeholders and must help protect our natural and social systems. This redefinition will lead to a more equitable, inclusive and regenerative economic system that meets the needs of the 21st century.
